The competition sought a response to an underutilized portion of the property abutting Highway 101. The program broadly required a modest interior space for contemporary art pieces, storage and art maintenance facility, as well as extensive outdoor art / sculpture areas. Our team chose to honor the art as well as create interactive experiences on this site, which could be interchangeably calm and chaotic with traffic noise. To that end, our team provided spaces to heighten the senses of sight, movement and sound, as contemporary art work often does.
